About Cantor Benny

Cantor Benny Rogosnitzky is a world-renowned Cantor, educator, lecturer, and community leader, currently serving as Cantor of the historic Park East Synagogue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Known affectionately as Cantor Benny, he is widely respected for his stirring voice, deep commitment to tradition, and passion for building Jewish community through music, meaning, and action.

  • Born in Liverpool, England, Cantor Benny moved to Johannesburg, South Africa at age eight, where his father, Rabbi Mair Rogosnitzky, served as a senior rabbi and his early gift for liturgical music began to flourish. He was mentored by the legendary Cantor Johnny Gluck OBM, who helped shape his early training and passion for authentic chazzanus.

He later earned a bachelor’s degree in Talmudic Studies at Manchester Yeshiva and an advanced degree in music from the Royal Manchester School of Music and the University of London. This combination of classical education and deep Jewish learning forms the foundation of his vocal and spiritual style.

Cantor Benny has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Opera House, the White House, and the United Nations. He has produced and performed in dozens of acclaimed, sold-out performances, and in 2012, was enlisted by Sony Music to consult on and promote the historic Eternal Echoes project, a collaboration between Itzhak Perlman and Cantor Yitzchak Meir Helfgot.

At Park East Synagogue, where he has served since 2009, Cantor Rogosnitzky leads liturgical services. He also heads the synagogue’s marketing, storytelling, and community engagement efforts, including for the Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School, where he serves as Director. He works closely with students, families, and members to create meaningful interfaith programs, musical events, and educational
    experiences.

His outreach has brought Jewish music and tradition to global audiences, from Tel Aviv and Warsaw to South Africa and Brooklyn, and he often lectures on the application of music to prayer. He continues to mentor many of today’s rising cantors, leaving a lasting impact on the future of cantorial music, and believes strongly in balancing traditional liturgy with the evolving needs of the Jewish community.

As founder of Frum Divorce and co-founder of Cantors World, Cantor Benny uses his platform to bring healing, dignity, and joy to Jewish lives. His work through Frum Divorce has supported thousands of single parents and introduced over 35 couples who have since married. Through Cantors World, he continues to preserve and promote authentic cantorial music for future generations.

He also serves as a senior advisor to the Holocaust Museum of Eternal Faith and Resilience in Tel Aviv, and regularly volunteers to uplift the spirits of hospitalized children and adults across the Jewish community.

Cantor Rogosnitzky is involved in many aspects of community life, coordinating special events, interfaith programs, and large-scale fundraising dinners at venues such as the Waldorf Astoria, Hilton, Barclays Center, and Lincoln Center. He has produced events featuring world leaders, heads of state, and prominent figures in Jewish and global affairs.

He is a proud husband and father of four, and often shares insights from his own parenting journey. His family remains his greatest source of inspiration, grounding his work in love, faith, and legacy.
